Thesis Title: The Rhetoric of Social Movements: Non-Modern Theories and Methodologies

Richard Johnson-Sheehan

About

The rhetorical study of social movements has operated under the assumption that object and subject, nature and culture, and style and substance are inherently separate. I offer two rhetorical theories, culled from sociology and philosophy, that posit methodologies for the study of social movements rooted in the proposition that nature is always intertwined with culture.
