About
My name is Salif Romano Niang and I am a doctoral candidate majoring in international relations at Purdue University's Department of Political Science.
The subject of my dissertation falls at the intersection of demographic transition theory (specifically, youthful age structures), democratic transition theory (specifically, the prevalence of semi-democracies), and political violence (specifically, civil wars).
Furthermore, I have strong interests in international political economy with particular emphasis on explaining the gap between rich and poor nations.
I am also an aspiring social entrepreneur focused on bringing efficient technology, innovative business practices, and a cross-cultural mindset to bear on the scourges of extreme poverty and malnutrition among small-scale rice farmers in Mali.
